2019 INTERNATIONAL MUSEUM DAY CELEBRATED IN GUTONG, PLATEAU STATE IN A GRAND STYLE! This year's international museum day had been celebrated in Gutong village of Plateau state, Nigeria. The event was celebrated in a grand style amidst cheers and jubilation from people within and outside Plateau state. The event is been celebrated in Gutong chiefly because of the lobbying capacity of Hon.Pst. David Joseph Dabit Who is a board member with the national commission for Museums and monuments. Present in the historic event were the leadership of the commission ably represented by Mr. Amadu, the governor of Plateau state ably represented by;Mrs. Biddie, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi ( member elect, PKK), Barr. Henry Longs (member elect, Pkn. South constituency), Hon. John Damap ( chairman, Pankshin LGA), MUCDA exco(s) led by the secretary Mr. Dakom, Traditional rulers amongst others too numerous to mention. The event which is the first of it's kind was showered accolades by the representative of the Governor and appreciated the commission for museums and monuments for finding Gutong worthy of this year's celebration. In her words, the board chairman said their reason for choosing Gutong is because one of their own is an illustrious son of the community coupled with the fact that the area is serene and attractive. She thank the Gutong community for peacefully hosting the day and urged them to continue in like manner. Goodwill messages also came from Rt. Hon. Yusuf Gagdi, Hon. John Damap, MUCDA excos and several others. Highlights of the event was the presentation of traditional dance by different traditional groups, debate in the Mupun tribe, poem recitation, Paper presentation by Prof. Sati Fwatshak on the topic; "Museums as a cultural hubs; the future of tradition" and lots more.
