INDEPENDENCE MESSAGE BY ARC. DAVOU PAM (Gee-Q)
On The Occasion Of the 60th Independence Celebration Of Nigeria.

Dear friends and comrades. 1st October is always a delightful day which comes with a lot of excitement for Nigerians of all works of life. I want to congratulate the government and the good people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in particular the government and people of Plateau State and more particularly the great and egalitarian Plateau youths on this memorable day of the diamond jubilee celebration of the Independence of our great nation. The successes recorded within the 60 years of our nationhood are numerous while the challenges which accompany these successes also stares us in the face.

To Nigerians from all works of life, from all regions and religious backgrounds, from all cultural and educational backgrounds and from all social and ethnic backgrounds, the theme of this year's anniversary "Together Shall We Be" is a reminder to us that,  if there is a time when unity of purpose matters in our nation, then indeed the time is NOW! While we are yet to reach the promised Land, we can boldly say that with unity of purpose and with hard work and resilience, we will definitely get there someday.

Today we celebrate our nation because 60 years of self-rule have come and gone, 60 years of self-actualization have come and gone, 60 years of struggles and challenges have come and gone but, as we move on together in unity and love, our struggles and challenges will only make us stronger. Our nation is great because, it has the potential of greatness and our people who have shown great courage even at the most difficult moments will be the agents for the actualization of the potentials of our nation.

To the great Nigerian youths and Plateau youths in particular, as we step forward to the future which we all desire, we must rally together in our quest to make Nigeria and Plateau State great again. We must reflect on the courage and struggles of our heroes past. Let us remember the sacrifices which they paid with their sweat and blood for our nation's freedom and may their efforts be a source of inspiration for us to build on the foundations they have laid down for us to build on.

As dogged and hard-working youths, we must see ourselves as the great pillars on which our nation stands. Our hard work and resilience, our innovation in the humanities and the sciences, in entertainment and sports and in entrepreneurship and industry is the driving force for our nation's growth. We will continue to build our nation Nigeria in spite of all the odds. Let us keep walking towards the future as we remember the legacies of our Fathers who once exploited their youthfulness to make our nation great.
The labour of our heroes past shall not be in vain!

As we celebrate this year's anniversary, let us remember to pray for our nation, for peace to reign and for blessing upon our economy and victory over the Covid 19 pandemic in our nation.

Long live the federal Republic of Nigeria
Long live Plateau State Long live the Plateau Youth Council (PYC)
