WHY MY GOVERNOR SHOULD REMAIN MY GOVERNOR COME 2019

WHY MY GOVERNOR SHOULD REMAIN MY GOVERNOR COME 2019!

The ancient books of wisdom - which maintain their potency of truth on the plinth of empirical contemporary facts - measure the worth of a leader by his deft stratagems and his capacity to plan whilst devising a pathway for addressing the plight of the populace. Looking through prisms of balanced assessment and objective  criticism, Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Bako Lalong cannot but be adjudged as a leader who has had the people as the centrepiece of his leadership odyssey since assumption of Office as Governor of Plateau State.

Having carefully, painstakingly and scrupulously x-rayed the activities of the current Government on the Plateau viz a viz the reality on ground and the modest achievements so far recorded I am convinced beyond reasonable doubt as I believe any true patriot should that the Governor deserves re-election come 2019. A reflection of the Governor's mental mettle and intellectual prowess can be seen from the well articulated Budgets he has presented through the years which have not only been congruent with the realities of the time vis-à-vis the palpable felt needs of the masses, but over and beyond, these Budgets have been executed to the best possible standards.

As it is with leadership anywhere, it might be obvious that the Governor possibly hasn't completely met certain expectations in some aspects of governance, it still remains glaring that with what is on ground in comparison to the pseudo-apparitions the Opposition is bandying as an option he still towers shoulder high above and beyond others. Certainly, from the steps taken thus far, the indelible imprints of Governor Lalong point to the sacred fact that he will consolidate on the dividends of good governance come 2019 and spiralling into the remaining span of his second term.

Firstly,  as a responsible government that believes in continuity Governor Lalong immediately concentrated on completing all abandoned and/or ongoing projects of the past administration not minding the fact that they were initiated by an opposition.  These projects after due diligence were all completed and commissioned for the good of the Plateau people.

He also having realized that Plateau State is a civil service state and that the economy of the state revolves around the payment of salaries immediately addressed the yearnings of aggrieved Civil Servants by paying over seven months salaries and arrears owed workers in the State. While also resolving the stalemate of deprived salaries as a result of the no work no pay policy of the past administration.

He further established the pioneer State Peace Agency to help creating a platform for engagement and harmonious interactions for resolution of disputes between the warring factions on the Plateau. True to it, Plateau state recorded a peaceful atmosphere for the two to three years of this administration before the unfortunate turn of events which have also been arrested.

In furtherance of the Governor's foresight to wit building an enduring economically robust and intellectually vibrant citizenry, the State government under Rt. Hon. Barr. Simon Lalong has ploughed quantum investments into youth empowerment and students' support schemes. A clear sign point is his approval of the revival of the Plateau Youth Council that was comatose and thus not in existence for the past Twelve years. Without an iota of doubt Governor Lalong has blazed the trail and set unprecedented records as never witnessed in the past 16 years before him. Contrary to the notion by certain fiendish elements that the youth should be used only as pawns on the political chessboard, Governor Lalong has broken that demeaning jinx by empowering thousands of youths through loans, grants and business support facilities. The introduction of mechanised agriculture with matching subsidy from the government alongside the value addition chain are vistas that have helped welcome the youth on the productivity deck. Today, our youth can earn their bread legitimately and with dignified pride.
His love and passion for the youths also saw to his immediate approval and release of students bursary to plateau indigenes.

As a cosmopolitan leader who sees governance as a task to bring worthy dividends to all, his transformational activities today cut across various facets of the state on all indices of human capital development and infrastructural advances; key projects (such as roads, health facilities, water plants et al) have been evenly spread across the three Senatorial districts including ensuring equity and fairness in all appointments contrary to what obtained in the past.

For all true patriots on the Plateau who will not be blinded by expertly contrived smokescreens of deception for fiendish political gains, the bazaar of prudently executed projects are clearly visible for all to attest to. Our dear Plateau State has been placed on a sound footing and a sure pathway of progress with the strategic steps taken by Governor Lalong thus far. As we stand on the threshold of history let it not be said that we gave up credibility for incongruity, let it not be said that we gave up meritorious dexterous performance for mediocrity dressed in borrowed robes of empty silvery quoted promised that stink as a sepulchre on close examination. Let it not be said that we gave up vibrant energetic service delivery tailored along addressing the felt needs of the Masses for aging/weak bones and mind not attuned to the yearnings of the people. Let it not be said that we gave up nimble wits on the quaky altar of rusty thinking.

History beckons and it behooves on us all to give Governor Simon Lalong an extended opportunity to consolidate on the good works he has begun whilst we maintain balanced criticisms for those grey areas he might not have been at par. A man of sustained true humility as Lalong is sure to learn from all we can bring to the table in his support.

Without a speckle of doubt, my Governor should remain my Governor and thus Barr. Simon Bako Lalong deserves the unflinching support of all who meant well for Plateau State.
 I humbly submit.

Yours in Struggle,
 Comrade Prince Míaphen
